Last night I attended the Mariinsky Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake at BAM. Like most everyone I know, I have seen Swan Lake many times. This performance, however, is the one I will picture in my mind when I think of this ballet in the future. It was grand. Last night was the only performance I was able to attend during the Mariinsky’s entire residency at BAM, and I hesitated before buying my ticket. Did I really need to see yet another version of Swan Lake? Apparently, yes, I did. I am so glad I attended this performance. The corps de ballet were a joy to watch, as was Viktoria Tereshkina as Odette-Odile. They deserved every one of their enthusiastic curtain calls.
